In the developing Italian club scene of the early 20th century there were many football clubs but little variation in shirt colour. A suggestion by a Palermo member that the Sicilian club should drop their red and blue colours in favour of pink and black stripes was an inspired one; the resolution was adopted in 1907 although there was a delay before the team first appeared in their new colours with the necessary pink flannel having to be imported from England.Palermo unusual colour combination created one of the game´s most distinct and most iconic shirts and is still an important part of the club identity more than a century later.
